Week #6

We find ourselves in the middle of winter!

The snow fell hard last week and we were able to get all the food out!

Now, looking ahead, let me tell you about what will happen over the next couple of weeks and months.

We will continue to eat brilliant root veggies, every color and texture of green, as much citrus as we can peel, and piles of cabbage/potatoes/sweet potatoes. JUST when we think that winter will never lift and we can’t eat one more potato, asparagus will start to peek its head out of the ground and usher in an entirely new and fresh season of eating plants!

Please continue to enjoy everything that you are ordering, posting about it on the interwebs and tagging us, giving us google reviews, telling your friends and family, and just generally being an awesome group of people.

A couple of notes...
-we have been working for 18+ months on a system/website that will allow us to do things you never thought possible. i.e. rewards programs, faster delivery turnaround times, more accurate ordering, backordering, substitutions etc. This should all begin to roll out in April/May/June

-we are continuing to partner with growers and producers so if you have any products that you want us to carry, please let us know...otherwise we won’t know!

-if you are a meat-eater, we are sitting on a giant pile of ground beef and are running a special right now based on how much you order...if you order 10+ lbs, we are selling it for $6.25 per pound!!! That is ridiculous pricing for grass-fed/finished ground beef, so load up. No Shortages!!

What's cool this week?!

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
