Last year we saw the highest increases in overhead costs we have ever seen across the board….basically DOUBLE in EVERY category. Think…fuel, labor, utilities etc.
On top of that, and more importantly, the cost of everything to our growers has done the same.
As we talk to our growers and producers, look at our year-end numbers, and project where we want to go in 2023 and beyond it has become clear we need to make a few changes right now.
As much as we hate the fact that we have to raise our prices on our weekly produce boxes (first time since 2019), we hate the thought of our FOODSHED collapsing even more.
We built this company, NOT to get the consumers the best food for as CHEAP as possible, but to be a GROWER FIRST company, that builds a community of eaters around getting the growers the MOST money possible for the wonderful bounty they are bringing to our homes each and every week right here in Ohio.
The world is NOT getting MORE stable.
HOWEVER, because we have committed year over year to our FOODSHED right here in Ohio, we have begun to build resilience against some of the fluctuations that are happening right now in a turbulent economic/distribution system.
We work with our growers twelve months a year to ensure that their business is stable, as well as planning for upcoming seasons with the demand we are creating through YOU, our consumers.
From DAY 1, we have said time and again, the commercial/industrial food system has been broken for decades, people are just now starting to see the signs of it. Because of this, we have to continue to build OUR FOODSHED…NO MATTER THE COST.
We have AWESOME things planned for the next year and beyond…things that we have been dreaming about for years that are actually possible if we continue to do the hard work of putting our $$ where our mouth is…literally.
We continue to live to serve, and we are grateful that you have given us the trust necessary to build something sustainable and bountiful.
