Date Snickers Recipe

Here’s a healthier snack than a candy bar—starring dates and other real ingredients. Save the dates for a winter get together!

INSTRUCTIONS

  • If your dates didn’t come pre-pitted, we need to remove the pits. To do so, slice them open with a paring knife (or a small sharp knife) and pull out the pit. Transfer the pitted dates to a baking sheet or a late plate.

  • Stuff each date with 1 to 2 teaspoons of peanut butter (depending on the size of the date). Gently press chopped pecans, walnuts, or peanuts into the sticky peanut butter.

  • Transfer the chocolate chips and coconut oil (or butter) to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 20-second intervals, stirring well in between each interval, until the chocolate has completely melted.

  • Drizzle the melted chocolate on top of the dates. If you’d like, sprinkle them with flaky sea salt. Allow the dates to sit at room temperature, or in the refrigerator, until the chocolate has hardened, about 10-30 minutes. Serve and enjoy with a glass of local milk!
